The Holy Down Bag
On a short visit home from the mountains of North Carolina in 1984, I showed off my new sleeping bag, a North Face Ibex goose down beauty, the sure ticket to winter freedom in the Blue Ridge mountains. This is the bag that followed along with the pack and together with the tent they made a great team. The bag allowed me to go anywhere in the mountains at any time, and I survived thousands of winter nights zipped up while the snow and the wind put me to sleep.
